PENANG'S HERITAGE TOUR

1)      FORT CORNWALLIS ( photo stop) - This is the spot where the founder , Captain Francis Light, first landed in 1786. Making it one of Penang's oldest Heritage sites.

 

2)      CHEONG FATT TZE MANSION  ( visit and house tour) . Once the home of the powerful Nayang Industrialist who was also known as Chang Pi Shih. He was a Mandarin of the Highest Order in the government of China. The building was the winner of Uncesco Heritage Conservation Award 2000 . . The Most Excellent Project.

 

3)      TRISHAW RIDE ( a short ride) -  The oldest transportation and is also known as . King of the Road. in Penang.

 

4)      PENANG PERANAKAN MUSEUM ( visit ) . The typical home of a rich Baba of a century ago is recreated to offer a glimpse of  their opulent lifestyle and of their many customs and traditions. With over 1,000 pieces of antiques and collectibles of the era on display.

5)      WELD QUAY.S STILT HOUSES ( visit )- The earliest Chinese settlement in Penang. The  place  is Chinese Clan Villages built on the on the water. The timber houses are joined by plank walkways.

 

6)      KHOO KONG SI  ( visit ).The Grandest Clan house in the Country. The Khoo Kong Si clan house has the magnificent example of intricate woodcarvings and Chinese architecture.

 

7)      LITTLE INDIA ( visit )- This quaint Indian town dates back over two century and boast the 167 years old Sri Mahamariamaan Temple. Worth browsing here are the are the pre-war terrace buildings which house restaurants, jewellery and the textile shops, dress retailer, music stores, barbers as well shops selling spices, sundries and cutlery.
